The Association Forum of Chicagoland and USAE weekly newspaper are teaming up to honor the association community’s 40 most accomplished professionals under the age of 40.

The third annual Forty Under 40® Awards will recognize 40 up-and-coming association or nonprofit professionals who are under the age of 40, demonstrate high potential for success in leadership roles and exhibit a strong commitment to the association management profession. The 40 honorees will be recognized and celebrated in several ways:

  • Profiles and interviews will be published in a special Forty Under 40 Awards section of USAE newspaper on Nov. 19;
  • A Forty Under 40 Awards reception will be held on Dec. 14 at the IVY Boutique Hotel, Chicago* where the honorees will receive their recognitions and have the opportunity to network with established association leaders as well as top executives from IVY Boutique Hotel, Team San Jose, Custom News, Colonial Williamsburg and Vetted Solutions; and
  • During Association Forum's Holiday Showcase® 2015 luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Chicago* on Dec. 15.

*Attendance is encouraged but not required. Honorees will be responsible for their own travel arrangements.

Here's what one of our past honorees had to say about their experience!



  •  3+ years of employment at a 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) or 501(c)(6), or association management** organization.
  • Current employment at a 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) or 501(c)(6), or association management** organization.
  • Plan to continue in roles that aid the future of the association and non-profit community.
  • Exhibit characteristics that demonstrate leadership skills and potential.
  • Previous recipients of a Forty Under 40 Award are not eligible to apply. Previous applicants are encouraged to reapply.
  • Under the age of 40 as of December 14, 2015.

**An association management organization specializes in providing a host of management services for association clients. Services include professional staff, administrative support, technology, and equipment an association needs to operate efficiently.  An association management company typically manages several associations from one company location, providing a wide range of benefits.

How to Apply:

  1. Download the application below.
  2. Select "Save As" and save the form to your computer using your first and last name as the file name then open the NEW file and complete the application questions.
  3. Upload your completed application and a copy of your resume below. Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST, Friday, July 31, 2015. Applications without accompanying resumes will not be considered.
  4. (Optional) Up to two letters of recommendation may be e-mailed from others on your behalf to awards@associationforum.org . Please be sure the subject line includes your first and last name. Letters of recommendation must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST, Friday, July 31, 2015.

Note: All applicants will be contacted by September 25, 2015, with the decision of the selection committee.
