BOSTROM ANNOUNCES THE DR. PHILIP LESSER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

Philip Lesser, Ph.D., CAE, Education Scholarship is now open!

Phil Lesser scholarship, named for Philip Lesser, Ph.D., CAE, a Bostrom veteran of 24 years has served as the Vice President and lead consultant for Bostrom consulting practice.  Dr. Lesser’s commitment and expertise in strategic planning, volunteer and staff development, organization structure and bylaws are just a few ideals and characteristics that potential applicants should embody.

The Association Forum Foundation will award this annual scholarship to four recipients who have attended the Association 101 required courses. The goal of this scholarship is to aid early professionals and those seeking to alter their career path in identifying association management as a career. Association 101 is an essential course that educates applicants interested in a career in association management.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Association Forum members.
  • Applicants may have up to three years of association management experience.
  • Applicants must submit a letter of interest outlining why they are attracted to association management as a career.
  • No organization may obtain more than two scholarships per year.

 

The Awards and Scholarship Committee will select applicants on a rolling basis to support attendance at an upcoming Association 101. If you reside or work outside of the Greater Chicago and surrounding areas, the scholarship will cover course fees only.  Travel costs are not included.

His longstanding commitment to the association community is well-known. Dr. Lesser, a 30-year member of the Association Forum of Chicagoland, has served as its Chairman; Chairman of the Certified Association Executive [CAE] Commission of the American Society of Association Executives [ASAE], and ASAE’s CEO Advisory Board. He is a frequent contributor to professional publications and a popular presenter at educational events, as well as a lecturer in strategic planning at The University of Chicago.

The Forum honored Dr. Lesser in 2012 with its John C. Thiel Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes an “unsung hero” who has demonstrated long-term, multifaceted leadership as an Association Forum volunteer, primarily through service on committees and other contributions.
