THE ASSOCIATION FORUM OF CHICAGOLAND: ADVANCING ASSOCIATIONS SINCE 1916
At the Association Forum of Chicagoland, our mission is to "advance the professional practice of association management."
The Forum is the "association of associations" — a community of more than 3,500 members including the CEOs and staff professionals from nearly 1,500 membership organizations. Serving as a "living laboratory," Forum provides local education programs, facilitates peer-to-peer connections, models best practices and publishes the award-winning FORUM magazine.
In addition, Forum is nationally recognized as an innovator in Web 2.0 and social media. Our community—online and off—is comprised of 47,000 association professionals in the Chicagoland area whose collective efforts serve more than 37 million members worldwide and generate $22 billion in global annual expenditures.
In fact, Chicagoland is the nation's second largest association headquarters city and is home to the largest collection of healthcare associations in the world. If that sounds like a lot, it is: Chicagoland associations have combined annual budgets of more than $9 billion.
The Forum Promise: Essential Learning. Compelling Experiences. Powerful Resources. ... more
Signature Story - Peace of Mind
By Susan Besze Wallace Featuring the Illinois Psychiatric Society
When a girl starves herself into a life-threatening state of desperation, they already have fought for her treatment. When a mother Downstate cannot make the 100-mile trip to a psychiatrist to find out why she experiences both euphoria and rage each day, they already have determined a way for her to afford long-distance care. And when an inmate's sentence ends and he needs immediate access to the prescriptions that have helped stabilized his life, they already have helped build a potentially life-changing bridge.
The Illinois Psychiatric Society, an independent branch of the American Psychiatric Association, extends its reach through its members to the fragile, often silently suffering population that they serve. Once housed under an umbrella association, IPS has emerged independently and now embraces its own legislative squalls, no longer content just to weather them.
Association Forum Survey Analyzes Compensation at Chicagoland Associations, Sets Industry Benchmarks for Recession, Recovery
Despite the economic downturn, Chicagoland associations continue to offer competitive salaries and benefits, finds a new report from the Association Forum of Chicagoland.
An annual survey of compensation, benefits and office practices at Chicagoland associations and nonprofits, the 2009 – 2010 Association Compensation and Benefits Survey sets industry standards that job applicants can use to determine their fair-market value, and that employers can use to find and retain top talent — during both the recession and the recovery that follows. This critical survey will help CEOs to comply with the IRS Form 990 that requires details on how CEO compensation is established.
